Where are they now?

Greg Harrod graduated from West Elk High School in 1988. He received a Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering from Kansas State University in May, 1993. Later that month, he married and moved to Peoria, Illinois to work for Caterpillar, Inc. In 1998, Greg and his wife, Angie, moved to Brisbane, Australia to develop mining software for Caterpillar.

In May of 2000, he took a job with Johnson Controls, and relocated to Wichita, Kansas. He currently serves as the Engineering Manager for the Residential Systems and Controls group. Greg, Angie, and their three sons live in northwest Wichita, and enjoy visiting family in Howard often. Greg's parents, Mary and Jerry Harrod, and his brother Gary and wife, Lisa, live in Howard. His nieces, Kayla, senior, and Ashley, eighth grade, are students at West Elk.

 

Outstanding Results from Jr. High Music Festival

Jr. High music students brought home high rankings from Music Festival, held at Udall on March 24. Both vocal and instrumental groups were taken. In the vocal division, the mixed choir received two I rankings. The girls ensemble received two II rankings and the boys ensemble received a I- and a II ranking. Nora Trupe received a I- on her vocal solo. In the instrumental division, all of the following received a I ranking: Garrett Lambky/baritone solo, Courtney Hunter/flute solo, Emily Perkins/trumpet solo, Dominic Ebersole/trombone solo and the Saxophone and Horn trio which was made up of Eli Smith, Aaron Miller and Carson Jennings. Congratulations to the West Elk Junior High musicians!
